Step 8: Make the decisions

Once we are convinced that we understand the issues and that we have well analysed the proposed solutions, we can determine how we will solve the problems.

This step is normally very formal.  The Director General of TDG determines which changes should be brought to the TDG Program.  Some changes could require modifications to the TDG Act, others could affect the TDG Regulations, others could affect provincial and territorial regulations or policies of all levels of government.

All decisions are subject to discussions at the Federal-Provincial-Territorial TDG Task Force.

The entire process that leads to final decisions is subject to the oversight of the Consultative Committee on TDG Policy.  This committee may report directly to the Minister of Transport if it feels that the process is unfair to interested groups (including the public).
