Flight Rights Canada

Don't be a victim. Know your rights.

In 2007, Bill C-11 strengthened the Canada Transportation Act to protect the rights of air travellers. Since that time, most Canadian airlines have approved the Airline Passenger Charter, which protects your rights.

Your airline ticket is a contract. When an airline does not provide the services you paid for, the law requires them to keep you informed, treat you fairly and offer a solution or a refund.

If you feel that your rights have not been met, contact your airline. If you are not happy with their response, contact the Canadian Transportation Agency.

Did you know...

  • Canadian air carriers must clearly display their terms and conditions at their business offices and post them on their websites.
  • The Passenger Bill of Rights does not make an airline responsible when the weather or passenger safety or security concerns out of their control prevent airlines from meeting the terms and conditions of your flight.
