Issue:
Britax has determined that certain infant car seats contain a defect with the chest clip that could result in injury. The center tab on the chest clip can break presenting a choking hazard to an infant in the car seat. There have been three reports of broken chest clip tabs found in the mouth of a child, none of those incidents were in Canada. There have been no reported choking injuries. Transport Canada has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to this defect.
Company Action:
Britax is providing a free replacement chest clip to registered users and anyone with an affected seat who makes a request. The replacement clip is manufactured with a different material that improves the durability of the tab. When looking at the back of the chest clip, the recalled component has the letters “ABS” and the replacement component has the letters “PC”. The replacement clip also carries a new part number and a visually identifiable shiny tab so the new clip can be recognized from the front.
Consumer Recourse:
Consumers should determine whether their infant car seat is included in the recall by verifying the model number and date of manufacture against the information above or by visiting the website dedicated to this recall (www.bsafe35clip.com). This recall affects only certain infant car seat models manufactured between November 1, 2015 and May 31, 2017. The model number and date of manufacture can be found on a label affixed to the back of the seat. Please refer to the information above or visit the link to determine if your infant car seat is affected.
Registered owners will receive a free remedy kit that contains step-by-step instructions and a replacement chest clip made from a different material that improves the durability of the tab.
