SUBJECTS TO BE INCLUDED IN THE COURSES
- Basic first aid:
- the provision of basic first aid and the first aid attendant's role and obligations in relation to basic first aid;
- emergency scene management;
- cardiopulmonary resuscitation (Level A: 1 rescuer, adult casualty);
- medical emergencies;
- shock, unconsciousness and fainting;
- anti-contamination procedures; and
- wounds and bleeding.
- Standard first aid:
- the provision of standard first aid and the first aid attendant's role and obligations in relation to standard first aid;
- emergency scene management;
- cardiopulmonary resuscitation (Level A: 1 rescuer, adult casualty);
- medical emergencies;
- shock, unconsciousness and fainting;
- anti-contamination procedures;
- wounds and bleeding;
- fractures and their immobilization;
- chest injuries;
- head and spinal injuries;
- muscle, ligament and joint injuries;
- burns;
- eye injuries;
- pelvic, genital and abdominal injuries;
- movement and transportation of casualty;
- environmental illnesses and injuries;
- toxicological emergencies; and
- evacuation and transportation of casualties.
- First aid for flight attendants
- compulsory lessons:
- principles of rendering first aid and in-flight medical emergency scene management (including universal precautions),
- shock, unconsciousness and fainting,
- artificial respiration - adult,
- artificial respiration - child and infant,
- choking - adult, child and infant,
- cardiovascular emergencies,
- wounds and bleeding,
- fractures, dislocations and sprains,
- head and spinal injuries,
- burns,
- asthma, allergies and poisons,
- other medical conditions,
- altitude related conditions,
- eye injuries; and
- elective lessons:
- emergency childbirth and miscarriage,
- frostbite and hypothermia,
- heat illnesses,
- cardiopulmonary resuscitation - adult, child and infant, and
- toothache.
