Transport Canada explores drone technology for use in the Canadian Arctic

Transcript

Transport Canada is testing drone technology for use in Canada's North as part of our Arctic Unmanned Aircraft System Initiative.

We are testing the use of drones outside pilot's line-of-sight.

The drone trials are taking place until March 31, 2019 using a Sea Hunter drone.

After the trials, drones may join our fleet of planes in the National Aerial Surveillance Program to detect oil spills, survey ice and marine habitats and monitor ocean activity.
