Notice – New edition of CAN/CGSB 43.126 is published

A new edition of the following standard has been developed by the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) Technical Committee on Reconditioning of drums for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods and was published in July 2019:

CAN/CGSB 43.126Reconditioning, remanufacturing and repair of drums for the transportation of dangerous goods”.

Coming into force

In accordance with Section 1.3.2 of the TDG Regulations, this newly published standard comes into force on January 31, 2020, however, stakeholders may begin transitioning to these new standards at any time before this date.

Most notable changes

The most notable changes that appear in the new edition of this standard are summarized below:

  • additional requirement for closure instructions for the Program documentation manual
  • revised requirements for closure gasket replacement
  • additional requirements for pressure gauges used during the leak test
  • revised marking requirements for a change of metal drum thickness
  • oher requirements have been revised for the purpose of clarifying their intent.
