All school buses manufactured from June 24, 2018 to July 31, 2019 with a gross vehicle weight rating greater than 14,969 kg (33,000 lbs) without Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as required by CMVSS 136 are inadmissible.
All school buses manufactured on or after August 1, 2019 with a gross vehicle weight rating greater than 11,793 kg (26,000 lbs) without Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as required by CMVSS 136 are inadmissible. Please read all notes |

Note-1: Modifications are required to accommodate the proper amount of seat assemblies equipped with user ready tether anchorages and lower universal anchorages and may vary according to models. Contact an authorized Thomas Built Buses dealership for information on the exact nature and costs of modifications required. Note 2: All school buses manufactured from June 24, 2018 to July 31, 2019 with a gross vehicle weight rating greater than 14,969 kg (33,000 lbs) must be equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as required by CMVSS 136. Note 3: All school buses manufactured on or after August 1, 2019 with a gross vehicle weight rating greater than 11,793 kg (26,000 lbs) must be equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as required by CMVSS 136. Note 4: School buses manufactured on or after September 1, 2020 may be equipped with Type II, lap/shoulder belts in passenger seating positions. A lap belt only is not acceptable. Please contact an authorized Thomas Built Bus dealership for information and cost if any modifications are required. School buses lacking proper ESC compliance will fail the inspection and shall be reported as inadmissible. Contact an authorized Thomas Built Buses dealership for additional information. |
